On February 6, 1979, the late Mary Lee Camp-Walker and her husband Billy Walker, Sr. welcomed a bundle of joy and promise into their home. Having named their first son after his father, Mary Lee and Billy named their youngest son Ronnie, which, unbeknownst to them but prophetic in nature, means “mighty counselor or ruler”. The Walkers raised Ronnie and his siblings, Billy, Jr. and Tammy in the fear and honor of the Lord and thus, it is no surprise that this mighty counselor accepted the call to serve in God’s vineyard in 2004. Since accepting the call, Pastor Walker has earned his Associate of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Grace Bible College in High Point, NC, and has used his innate gift as a leader to serve as Associate Minister (2004-2011) at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Thomasville, North Carolina and as a Youth Pastor (2009-2011) at The True Gospel Holiness Church of Charlotte, North Carolina. 

 

As a result of his leadership potential and his willingness to expand God’s kingdom, Pastor Walker was called to serve as Senior Pastor (2011-2016) of the Greater New Hope Baptist Church of High Point, North Carolina. After shepherding the flock at Greater New Hope for five fulfilling years, he served as Assistant Pastor of Chosen Generation ODC Ministries for three years. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Walker founded Sound Cathedral Ministries of Chosen in February 2019 where he currently serves as Senior Pastor. 

 

While those who know him would say his main hobby is “church, church, and more church,” Pastor Walker has never neglected the things that are most important to him: fun, family, and fellowship. In 2013, he took a holy pilgrimage with fellow clergymen to Israel, where he marveled at the wondrous sights mentioned in the Bible. Pastor Walker is the proud, doting uncle of three—two nephews and one niece—and to his siblings, he is known as a pillar of support and strength. He has given back to his community through service, as a member of the Board of Directors for United Builder’s Inc. 

 

Pastor Walker is a fun-loving leader, with a witty and warm sense of humor. He has, indeed, lived up to the meaning of his name, “mighty counselor and ruler”.
